New chapter begins: Make-Up of the City becomes Make-Up of the Cities!

We’re excited to kick off Make-Up of the Cities — the next phase in our interdisciplinary exploration of Flanders’ medieval urban past. Building on the success of Make-Up of the City, which focused on Ypres, this new project expands our scope to five urban centres: Ypres, Bruges, Ghent, Nieuwpoort, and Poperinge.

Thanks to renewed support from the VUB Research Council, our team will embark on five more years of interdisciplinary collaboration, combining osteological analysis, isotopic research, and historical investigation to uncover new insights into the lives and landscapes of medieval city dwellers.
